Bred to hunt big games like wild boar and puma, these muscular dogs have a broad head, longish and robust muzzle, almond-shaped eyes, high set ears, and a low set, long and thick tail. Some of them are marked with a black spot on their head, which is though not accepted by many breeder clubs. In the recent times, this gentle, cheerful and friendly breed has been employed as service and police dogs.
