User Description: There can be nine types of Federal Firearms Licenses that you will consider. These include types one, 2, 3, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, and 11. Depending on what sorts of firearms you want to sell, you will have to choose correct "Type" of FFL you will need at the beginning of the application process. A quick run-down of the various types, listed by number, are below:Type 1- The first class is a Title 1 FFL holder and a dealer or even gunsmith that sells anything other than destructive devices. A Title 1 FFL holder is able to deal in Title II NFA firearms with a class 3 SOT stamp.Type 2- The next category is a dealer doing business as a pawnbroker. Of all the various types of Federal Firearms Licenses, this's the sort you will need if you own a pawnshop and want to deal firearms legally.Type 3- The third category is a licensed collector of Relic and Curio (C&R) firearms. This is the license that you'll need in case you would like to buy and sell collector firearms, especially if you are doing interstate transfers.Type 6- This type is the thing that you will need to turn into a licensed manufacturer of ammunition & reloading components. Not included in this type is armor piercing ammunition, however. That's regulated elsewhere.Type 7- This type is a manufacturer of firearms who can also be a dealer. It includes firearms other than destructive devices, and ammunition and components other than armor piercing. Like the first type, you can manufacture and sell Title II NFA firearms with a class 3 SOT stamp.Type 8- This type is needed if you want to turn into an importer of Title one firearms and also ammunition. Under this particular FFL type, you are able to also import Title II NFA firearms as long as there's a class 1 stamp.Type 9- This type of licensee can be a dealer in Title 1 firearms to include NFA-classified destructive devices. This license requires payment as a Special Occupational Tax (SOT) Class one and a registration with the Department of State as an ITAR/D TRADE broker. In order deal in destructive devices with any explosives content, you will need an additional license as a Dealer of High Explosives.Recommended--> : Ruger firearms for sale by frankierugersType 10- A type ten FFL holder is a manufacturer of Title one firearms, armor piercing ammo along with, NFA Destructive Devices, components in addition to ammunition. An SOT Class two and registration with the Department of State as an ITAR/D-TRADE broker is required by this type. In order deal in destructive devices with any explosives content, you will require an extra license as a Dealer of High Explosives.Type 11- A type 11 FFL holder is an importer of Title one firearms, ammo, NFA restricted destructive devices, ammo for destructive devices, and armor piercing ammo. And also this requires registration with the Department of State as an ITAR/D-TRADE broker. In order deal in destructive devices with any explosives content, you will have to have an extra license as a Dealer of High Explosives. There will also be 3 different classes of federal firearms licenses and I encourage you to read more of my articles regarding these different classes. A typical combination is a Type1 with a Class 3 (SOT).
